Picks for the bank holiday weekend

There’s plenty of fun to be had over the bank holiday weekend; even if the BBC weather forecast does say it’s going to be raining.

Here are our picks for the weekend…

Friday night we’ll be heading over to Barfly for Jamie and the Lionhearts / The Muscle Club / Kick Superb; it’s super cheap entry at £3 with a flyer but if you email here with your name you can go on the cheap entry list…if you have or do neither it’ll be £4 (still cheap). If good wholesome indie fun isn’t your bag and you want something a bit heavier head over to Clwb Ifor Bach to catch the noisy and unforgiving Today is the Day / Jucifer / Complete Failure / Four Question Marks.

Afterwards well…there’s too much choice. Over at Clwb Ifor Bach they’re having a bit of a free party but only the first 250 people are going to get in (C-Y-N-T present: Tantrun / oooSynthetic / C-Y-N-T) which is going to be rammed. If a cheeky bit of electro is really what your heart was set on and you’re not able to get in at Clwb we’d head on over to Buffalo Bar for HYENA.

The Racing Cars and the Blackhearts are playing the Norwegian Church Saturday evening which is something to get excited about - but if you prefer your rockstars a little more homophobic and racist you could go watch UK Guns and Roses at The Point - we wont be. After the gigs we’ll be heading over to Barfly for Flyswatter Club which is having lots of fun give aways for the new Futureheads album and a playback from 10.30.

On Sunday (the milgi market will be running for most of the day and is totally worth checking out) we’ll be heading over to the Milgi Lounge for a chillaxing evening getting Batucada Basics (along with Candela, Triban and JuJu Nations) but we are slightly torn and might be heading over to Buffalo Bar for WE LOVE SUNDAES which is back (from 10 feet tall) for a one off garden party. It’s Fancy dress and features STAEDLER & WALDORF / Jean Jacque Smoothie / Killer Tomato.

Have fun!
